Hi! Have just happened upon your blog (fascinating, isn't it, the random returns one gets when Google-ing)and am very pleased indeed to find a Sophie Tucker fan! "After You've Gone" really sends me too! It's one of those tracks on a CD that skips and scratches due to obsessive repeats. The simplicity of melody is just about perfect, and like you said, Tucker's version is achingly emotional.
